AkiDwA’s 2019 AGM saw the release of the 2018 Annual Report

AkiDwA Treasurer Jules Buckley retired at the 2019 AGM
People came to the 2019 AkiDwA Annual General Meeting on Saturday, December 7th 2019 from across the country.
Members were able to get newly published copies of our 2018 Annual report, which describes how AkiDwA has been working towards structural transformation throughout 2018, by hiring new staff and engaging in an organisational review, which was completed last year.
We were welcomed by our Head of Operations & Strategy Salome Mbugua and we heard reports on AkiDwA activities throughout last year from our Chair Ashimedua Okonkwo and from Treasurer Jules Buckley, who is retiring this year.

Members voted to approve the minutes of the 2018 AGM and thanked retiring Board Director Jules Buckley for ten years of service to the organisation.
Jules provided the inspiration for Brain Gain Ireland, AkiDwA’s Annual networking event which has been connecting migrant entrepreneurs and professionals who are operating in Ireland for a decade now.
Akidwa members voted in four new board members, before hearing a presentation by psychotherapist Ann Carpenter on Let’s Talk, the AkiDwa research project on migrant women’s mental health, which she conducted in 2019 at centres in counties Waterford, Cork, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois and Mayo.
