Request for Tender: Evaluation Consultant

AkiDwA invites tenders from a qualified person to conduct an evaluation of AkiDwA’s project on reproductive health. The successful applicant will assess and evaluate the delivery of reproductive health training sessions delivered to residents of Direct Provision accommodation centres between July 2018 to September 2019.

Established in 2001, AkiDwA is an ethnic minority-led national network of migrant women living in Ireland. The organisation advocates for migrant women’s equal rights in Irish society, free of gender and racial stereotyping. In partnership with others, AkiDwA uses a holistic and gender-specific approach to promote migrant women’s integration and provides them with support for access to mainstream services and initiatives.

Project background

To advance the work of the organisation on women’s health, AkiDwA initiated a project to delivery training to women on reproductive health. This training was targeted to women seeking international protection, living in Direct Provision centres in Ireland. The project further developed in 2019 with the addition of complementary trainings delivered to men on reproductive health issues. The trainings cover a range of issues including contraceptives, STIs and sexual health, Irish law on the age of consent of marriage, law on the consent of sexual activities, crisis pregnancy and abortion services and fertility.

The evaluation will focus on the health project period from July 2018 to September 2019. We seek a comprehensive audit of the project through review of project documentation and reports, consultation with staff and with project partners and discussions with people who have received the training.

The consultant would begin the evaluation work as soon as possible with a view to delivering the final evaluation report by 31st December 2019. AkiDwA requests a meeting with the evaluator to review methodology and the scope of the evaluation prior to the commencement of work and at a midway point appropriate for appraisal. The consultant will deliver the final evaluation report to the Head of Operations & Strategy.
