Le Chéile Sinn(Together we Belong) is
an Integration Program dedicated to supporting the integration of female
International Protection Applicants (IPAs) by providing accessible information
on Irish culture, systems, and services. The initiative addresses the specific
needs of women who encounter heightened barriers to integration, including
mothers of young children, women with limited proficiency in English, and
survivors of Domestic, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence (DSGBV) or other forms
of trauma.
To address some of the above challenges, we have:
·
Conversational English Classes:
In collaboration with Faílte Isteach, AkiDwA hosts Conversational English Classes every
Monday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
at Killarney Court Community Hall
(D01 X9X8). These classes provide a welcoming
environment for participants to improve their English language skills while
building confidence and connecting with others in the community.
·
Online Information Sessions: Join our Online Information Sessions every Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Each session features different organisations and service providers who share
information about the services they offer, answer questions, and connect
directly with community members.
·
Little Gems Mum & Baby Group: Little Gems Mum & Baby Group is a welcoming space
for mothers with children aged 0–5
years. The group was created to provide psychosocial
support, encourage friendships, share experiences, and have fun together.
Activities are designed to engage both mums and their children. We meet
regularly for a variety of enjoyable and family-friendly activities.
The project is structured around two principal components: -
“Irish Systems and Services” and “Cultural Exchanges.”
Irish Systems and Services: -
This component delivers both in-person and online
information sessions designed to familiarise participants with Irish
administrative, social, and public service systems, and to enhance their
capacity to navigate these services effectively. The delivery of these sessions
is underpinned by strategic partnerships with statutory agencies and relevant
community organisations, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and accessibility of
information.
Cultural Exchanges and recreational Activities: -
This component promotes integration through interactive and
artistic activities that foster cross-cultural understanding and social
inclusion. These sessions aim to facilitate meaningful engagement with local
communities, reduce social isolation, and strengthen participants’ sense of
belonging in Irish society.
Through this approach, Integration program endeavours to
empower women with the knowledge, skills, and connections necessary to
participate fully in Irish community, while recognising and responding
sensitively to their diverse needs and experiences.
