AkiDwA's work on gender-based violence remains pivotal, establishing the organization as a sectoral leader in providing support at both Dublin and national levels for migrant women. While gender-based violence (GBV) encompasses a wide range of issues, AkiDwA specifically targets Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), domestic violence, trafficking, and early and forced marriages. Projects addressing gender-based violence are funded by both the government and the EU, focusing on training and supporting migrant women who are victims of domestic violence and those affected by female genital mutilation. Additionally, AkiDwA is expanding its efforts on trafficking and early and forced marriage (EFM) through research and awareness campaigns.
