Vacancy: Development Education Officer

AkiDwA, the Migrant Women’s Network Ireland is looking to recruit a Development Education Officer.

Established in 2001 AkiDwA is an ethnic minority-led national network of migrant women living in Ireland. The Organisation promotes the equality of migrant women in Irish society, free of gender and racial stereotyping and applies a holistic approach to integration, promoting a migrant and gender-specific approach to public services as well as encouraging migrant women’s access to mainstream services and initiatives. Inline with the implementation of AkiDwA strategic plan the organisation is looking to recruit a person to work 2 days a week in a new development education project Women Together for a Better World which aim is to initiate dialogue, engagement and discussion between indigenous and migrant women on development education through the frame work of sustainable development goals

Title: Development Education Officer

Position: Part-time (2 days a week)

Reports to: Head of Operations & Strategy

Job duration: 1 year

Job description

  • Work with the consultant and head of operations and strategy in the development of training sessions
  • Coordinate project activities which include linking with partners, women participating in the training and the facilitator for the sessions.
  • Together with the consultant organise group workshops and follow up with the participants to support their development education practice
  • Organise final conference – sourcing and booking for venue, invitations and follow up with participating organisations and participants
  • Taking on such other tasks as delegated by the Head of Operations and Strategy

Skills and qualifications

  • Background in development studies/education, community development or equivalent
  • Good presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team worker and good listener
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Ability to take initiatives and be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
  • Good writing and social skills
  • Computer literacy

 

Location

The position will be based at the AkiDwA Office, Unit 2, Killarney Court, Upper Buckingham Street Dublin 1, but will require travelling to different locations and counties within Ireland
